You have not seen dedication to a sport until you have seen our city's K-2 boys' lacrosse team. These boys give it all they've got during practice and at games. In fact, some of the 2nd graders even organized their own practice once! They start with indoor lacrosse in January and play until the last tournament in July. The boys give up their evenings and weekends for practices and games. They could spend their Saturdays watching TV and playing video games like other children, but they choose to be on the lacrosse field, doing what they love.
My Project
Our local school district has a rich history in lacrosse. It is becoming more popular each school year, and we would want to share the love of this team sport with more young people in our community.
One of the struggles lacrosse players and their families face is the cost of the equipment.
A player needs elbow pads, gloves, a chest protector, a stick, and a helmet. The total for all of that gear can easily reach over $600. While we do have gear that the players can borrow, some of it is worn out and outdated. We would like to begin replacing that gear with new items, specifically two new helmets. These helmets will be borrowed by children who want to learn to play lacrosse but come from families who may not be able to purchase new equipment.
Your donation will help a child learn to play lacrosse, but he will reap many more benefits. He will learn to be part of a team and will experience the camaraderie and dedication that comes with it.
