This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year, our school holds an annual Fall Festival, and every year I have a project where each of my Modern Band I classes (mostly students who have little to no experience with instruments) compete with one another in a Battle of the Bands! The project allows my learners to learn how to play an instrument of their choosing, along with other aspects in the music industry that are often overlooked, such as logistics, marketing, crowd engagement, etc.

For most of my students, this will be their first musical performance and with the materials on this project, we can create a memorable first-time experience with music!

Having more bass and guitar amps will allow my students to practice on electric instruments, creating a more exciting and engaging rehearsal. The steel-string acoustic guitars and ful-sized weighted keyboard will also create a more relatable experience to the music they connect to on a daily basis.
