Battle of Books Class Set - Enhancing Student Reading

My Project

I have so much hope for my students as they progress in their learning. I have found the PTA sponsored "Battle of Books Program" is an excellent way to reinforce student reading skills. The students earn pins for their lanyards with every book read. They also qualify to participate in end-of-year activities. It really gets them reading more and they enjoy doing it. These books are of a short nature and they love getting through them. I like to have this 2nd set of classroom BOB books so I can make it easier to move the class through the books during the year. Excellent reading skills are essential for students in this world they will go out into. I want to get them well on their "reading way" in this 4th grade year.

The earbuds will help for the private work the students are involved with on their Chromebooks.

White board markers are used extensively throughout the year to solve problems on white boards and then hold the board up so I can immediately check for understanding. With all of the markers, pencils, and crayons it becomes necessary to have pencil bags so all of the items don't roll out of desks and get lost. The wiggle cushions and chair bands are small extras that help to keep the students relaxed and comfortable at their desks. They truly do make quite a difference in the concentration level for the students.

All of these items will help prepare my students to be reading and thinking individuals as they advance through the grades and set out into the world.
