This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students love creating music! Our K-8 school's music facilities have transformed into computer science classrooms.

Help us keep the spirit of music and creativity alive as we transition learning to focus on digital recording and electronic music production, emphasizing software, technology, and computing.

The centerpiece of this project is a 4-string electric bass guitar, which will accompany the instruments we currently own: an electric-acoustic guitar, a handful of microphones, an electronic drum kit, a looping station, and a class set of MacBooks. We would also like to include a Pyle Professional Bluetooth DJ Audio Mixer to enable easier sound mastering for live audio events. Many students are more familiar with mixers (from exposure to churches or DJ kits).

Other items in this package include a microphone stand to hold up our Blue Yeti mic, a set of wall mount guitar holders to keep our instruments safe and carefully stored, some Velcro to manage the modular instruments on our paddle board, and a power supply for the looping station, which currently runs on batteries.

These materials will help us manage the materials we use to teach applied sound science and computer science concepts (including equalization, analog/digital conversion, and streaming technology).
