Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my school are middle school students in 6th-8th grade, and all 300 are in my physical education classes. 100% are on free & reduced lunch and live in the most economically challenged area in the county.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy and excitement on a child's face when they work hard and experience success with their team!

Most of my students have never been on an official team with uniforms and games outside of their school. It will be amazing to be able to bring new and exciting opportunities to this group of deserving young people.

My Project

My goal is to provide team sport opportunities for my students by building a basketball team to play nearby schools after school. With this Donors Choose project, they can have uniform shirts and basketballs to start our team off right!

When the students put on a real uniform jersey, they feel special and are transformed into a legitimate player who gives it their all.

We will take great care of these jerseys and use them for many students and many seasons to come.

I know that having this team opportunity will help my students build confidence, skills, and learn healthy habits ensuring fun and future success for all!
