Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in Physical Education class is the students come to the outside areas and are dedicating 1 hour and 40 minutes to lifelong physical activity. The class is broken down into a warmup, fitness section, lesson/objective of the day, application, and modified game. They work collaboratively in groups and teams.

The various sports and activities they play are basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, jump rope, folk dance, and much more!

The students come from lower socioeconomic household and are first generation kids who are learning to work in groups and teams to be successful at the high school and college levels. They aspire to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, and community activists!

My Project

The two portable basketball courts will allow the students to play basketball during nutrition, lunch, and more importantly during their Physical Education class.

Their play area is not outfitted with permanent basketball courts so the portable courts will go a long way in allowing them to release some pent up energy after their classes.

The courts are portable and will allow for two half court games at once to happen or a full court game.

The courts will also allow for the school’s basketball team to practice and have actual courts to play on, practice, and prepare for the season.
