My Students

My students come to school every day very excited to learn something new. They come from a community that values family, education, and hard work.

A lot of my students were very interested to learn that their intelligence is not fixed, but it is in constant state of growth.

The students are learning that making a mistake is alright, provided they do not give up. My students are learning there are multiple ways to solve a problem and that collaboration is often necessary when they are stuck. The students in my class want to be challenged on a daily basis in every area of the curriculum.

My Project

My students like to play basketball, but not all of them have the skills to be successful. With more basketballs, I can teach the skills that are required to be successful at the game. Once we have mastered some of the skills, we can split the class up into different teams based on their skill level. In order to get the kids hooked into some sort of fitness routine, I feel it is important that they enjoy what they are doing. A lot of kids are just bystanders currently because we don't have enough balls and the kids with more advanced skills tend to take over.

The game of basketball is a great way for kids to learn about fitness and how to develop healthy habits through exercise.

Too often, many kids do not want to play because they have not been taught the skills. I intend to teach the skills and then move on to games that structured at the students skill level.
