My Students

My male students are curious, brave, and creative in their determination to become better readers! They struggle to find books that grab their interests. After several tries I have found that my boys love to read the Sports Illustrated Kids Graphic Novels! However, I do not have enough books to provide them and follow the proper cleaning and sanitation procedures due to COVID-19. My school is a low income, Title I school, surrounded by an impoverished neighborhood. Though this should discourage my students, it motivates them to come to school and grow in their reading as much as they can in two days. This is my third year with most of the students in my class and every year I loop with them the more they inspire me!

My Project

Reading is an everyday activity that students use in their everyday life. Learning to read should be fun and exciting for all students! The books that they have now they want and try their best to read them, but they just can't and the books are not interesting to them. With the addition of these books, my male students will have books that they can read, love, and understand! If my project is funded, my students will be given the opportunity to enjoy reading just as much as their peers in the classroom!
