Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There is such great research about how engaged students can be when they have opportunities to collaborate with a variety of students throughout the day. They speak and listen more, and remember more while having fun.

To do this, my students work at vertical, erasable surfaces for math and other subjects throughout the day.

We go through a wild amount of whiteboard markers. I feel badly about how much plastic gets thrown away in a school year. These refillable markers are miraculous! They erase well the only waste is a small cartridge.

We also do a lot of practice reading and writing sight words. Sight words can be tricky for most learners, but they are especially tricky for my students with a specific reading disability. The word cards with pictures help everyone recall sight words, but they are the first tool I've found that is less forgettable. The jumbo, triangular pencils help us multi-task. We work on our fine motor skills and handwriting with the sight words.
