Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Trenton, New Jersey, is (and this is amazing!) a sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to Trenton with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish. This year due to the pandemic and learning loss, many of our students are behind in their learning and need to catch up. We want to make sure that they are able to participate in as many hands-on, engaging activities as possible! We need to get back to the basics in the classroom. We are requesting items so students can complete meaningful writing tasks that they can be proud of throughout this school year.

Every classroom needs basic supplies to get through the school year and in our school, we are only budgeted $100 for basic classroom supplies - obviously, this is not enough to get us through the entire school year.

These basic project items will go a long way toward getting us back to the normal place we all want to be in. Especially in a science classroom, where so much is written out in equations, word problems, and essays, students will sorely need to have these items through the year. Help me give my students basic classroom needs such as markers, pens, index cards, containers, and materials to write on such as clip boards.
