My Students

Just as an artist cannot paint without a brush a student cannot learn to their full potential without the proper supplies. In order to help each of my kindergarten students make individual growth I need to provide them with the necessary tools for learning.

I teach kindergarten in a k-8 elementary school located in an large urban district in Southeastern PA.

Nearly 100% of the students in our school are economically disadvantaged. There are no maximum capacity limits on class size, so each year I have at least 30 students in my classroom without an assistant or aide. Many of our students do not speak English as a first language and some have even immigrated as political refugees. Unfortunately, due to budget deficits, our district is unable to supply us with even the basics such as paper, erasers, pencils, and books.

My Project

With the supplies you are donating, my students will be able to involve themselves in the learning process rather than just be passive observers. They will learn to write their first book with the pencils and notebooks, practice writing their names for the first time with the markers, and I will be able to properly support them as an educator without having to worry about having the means to do so.

With your generous support, my little learners will be able to build a foundation for basic skills in reading, writing, math, science, and more.

They will leave kindergarten with the ability to meet the challenges that each new grade brings with confidence.
