Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a 6th-grade and 7th-grade self-contained special education class in the South Bronx. This year, I've worked to create a classroom community that runs smoothly and effectively. I would like things to continue running smoothly by using these basic supplies to set up my classroom.

These basic teaching supplies will provide me with materials to carry out labs with students, display work, create reference points/posters, and set up an area where students can find essential materials for our lessons.

My students and I will use these resources throughout this school year to keep our classroom running. In our classroom, students often need a timer or a reminder to help them transition between activities. The giant classroom timer will make the count down more visible to students. The Help-Yourself-Supply Center and book bins will be a great addition to keeping our classroom organized. They will also help students become more independent in getting the resources they need for class. Lastly, we will be doing a measuring lab in the upcoming weeks. The stopwatches will be able to help students measure time. My students will appreciate having these supplies accessible and will be able to use the anchor charts/bulletin boards I've created to help them succeed.
