Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“All mankind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those that move,” Benjamin Franklin. My low income, special needs students need simple supplies that the school is unable to supply to be those that move.

My students are at risk, low income, special needs students that require dedication and most importantly, motivation.

They are good kids that need a caring word and nudge in the right direction. They need more than a teacher; they need a motivational speaker, surrogate parent, and shoulder to lean on. My school is unable to provide basic supplies that will go a long way in helping a student that cannot afford basic supplies to become engaged instead of shutting down.

My Project

I teach special needs students and students multiple years below grade level. Post its help these students organize ideas and help me quickly assess what they need with quick activities. They are great for essay and paragraph writing where the paper and pencils come into play. Low income students come without basic supplies and need them to engage in learning. Many special needs students enjoy whiteout because they don't feel the need to keep starting over and it puts them at ease and reduces frustration that results in distractions from the lesson.

My low income, special needs students come to school lacking the basic necessities of learning, such as writing implements.

In order for a child to learn, they must have the essentials of learning. Knowing that these supplies are there will put them at ease and engage them in the learning process. We have whole grade levels to make up in some cases. Therefore, this project will many of the problems that get in the way of learning.
