This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is great! The students come excited to learn and with that WOW factor. They are general ed, ENL, and special needs students. Many students come from low-income families. They come to school with a desire to learn and have fun. This year more than ever before the need for basic supplies are urgent. Funding is so low and parents are having a hard time because of not working.

I need to find a way to help give them the basic supplies they need to succeed instead of asking parents to send supplies to me.

I teach Kindergarten and I want to start the year off prepared and set up my families with the materials they'll need for in class and remote learning.

My Project

My students will need the basic supplies to start kindergarten. They'll need construction paper, glue sticks and crayons for art, ELA, math, science, social studies and for projects to do at home. They will also need notebooks, pencils, folders, dry erase markers to use in the classroom and/or to use at home.

The budget is so bad that schools will not have these basic supplies to help students succeed.

I am looking at many options to help get these basics to my families and DonorsChoose.org has been a life saver so many times in the past. In the spring "Kids for Learning" funded my class $1,000 and I was able to provide a large bag full of personal and academic supplies. The students and especially the parents were so appreciative because they did not have those basic supplies at home to work remotely. So I reach out to you again to help provide the basic supplies to use in the class as well as at home since we will have a Blended Learning Program in the fall.
