Imagine not being able to come to school prepared, due to your family's economic status. My students know that feeling... some of them can't even afford a pencil to write with. I want to have resources in my classroom to provide essentials that parents are not able to afford.
My students are wonderful 4th graders who are excited to come to school and are ready to learn!
I have 2 classes consisting of a total of 40 students . We are a very active class. 98 percent of my students get free and reduced lunch due to my school being high poverty. My students are so eager to learn, and work so hard everyday! They are very bright and are very inspirational. They are very interested in math, science, and any artistic outlet that may come their way.
My Project
I have requested the basic materials because they are an important necessity in our classrooms. Pencils, pencils pencils!! It seems like there are never enough of them!! The dry erase markers and erasers, the markers, pens and paper would be used during our science and math centers and small group activities. These materials are not affordable to many of my parents. They have a very hard time providing the necessities.
We will use these materials to make our classwork shine!
Students use color pencils and markers on activities we complete, dry erase board materials to show their work during math class. I along with my students will use the markers and paper to create reminders in our classroom and provide the students with a visual of their leaning.
My project will make a difference because these are things my school can no longer buy due to budget cuts, and I can't afford to buy it all myself... Thank you!!!
