Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a public middle school in the Bronx. My students are energetic, enthusiatic and curious about the world around them. The school is located in an "inner-city" neighborhood and the kids face a lot of challenges in their daily lives. Despite facing many obstacles, they strive to do their best for themselves, their school and their families. The dedicated staff at my school is trying their best to nurture youth of respect, perserverance and integrity, who will one day become leaders that make a positive impact in their local and global communities.

My Project

Every summer a LONG school supply list is sent home to families for the upcoming year. However, COVID-19 has hit our community hard and we know that some families are dealing with sickness and loss of employment. I would like to fund raise some basic classroom supplies so that we do not need to burden families with a long school supply list. School budgets are also being cut, so it will be necessary for me to find another way to get these materials.

I would love to be able to start the school year with the basic supplies needed for success in my science classroom.

I am asking for items such as pencils, looseleaf paper, folders, glue sticks, markers and more.

We are continuing our education remotely for the time being, but my students and I can't wait to see each other and attend school in the fall. Thank you for helping me take some financial burden off of families during this stressful time.
