Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Year after year, my students have walked into the school building and our classroom with smiles eager to learn. In our classroom, we focus on respecting and helping one another. This coming school year, things will be different. Students will walk into the building feeling many more emotions. While some may feel excited, others will feel anxiety, sad and afraid of the 'new norm.'

My students are all English Language Learners.

They will learn both English and Chinese in a Dual Language Classroom Setting. For many, first grade will be the first time they step into the building after completing kindergarten remotely. The school I teach at is a Title I school, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My Project

Notebooks, folders, crayons, and pencils, oh my! This school year more than ever I'd like to focus on equity from day one in my classroom. I would love to have basic school supplies for each of my students. These supplies consists of each student having their own individual notebooks, same colored folders, pencils and crayons. Students will use these materials on a daily basis both at school and at home.

With your help, we can build equity in our classroom!

Both students and parents will have an ease of mind knowing that they have the basic supplies needed to succeed in first grade.
