Basic Supplies for Stellar Students

My students need these supplies like paper, pencils, crayons, and markers, for various projects we plan to complete this year. We would be so grateful! While basic to many, these are supplies that my students often can't afford.

My Students

My young students are eager learners but face many challenges. They live in a high poverty area and most live in public housing or shelters. Some are being raised by extended family or are in foster homes awaiting adoption. They often lack the most basic supplies.

My students come to school with high hopes of great achievements and I want to do my best to make that come true.

It is often difficult because we have many obstacles, but I do my best. My students reading levels are 1-2 grades behind as are their math levels. My students have different learning styles and disabilities. I try to accommodate that with the resources we have, although it is terribly difficult. No matter what, our classroom is our safe, happy, learning place.

My Project

These supplies will give my students the chance to be equally supplied with the things they need to complete reading and writing projects, as well as assignments in all subjects that call for illustrating their thoughts.

Since many are behind in reading and writing, drawing is a popular way to express understanding.

The crayons, markers, pencils, and paper will allow us to create many books and reading responses. We do this often and the students love it! I love watching my non-readers start to enjoy writing and progress during the year! These supplies might be taken for granted by some, but for my students they are keys to a creativity they haven't been exposed to before!
