My Project

"Miss, do you have a pen I can use?" "Do you have any tape?" Without fail, these are some of the most frequently asked questions in my classroom.

Most students at my high-needs school qualify for the free lunch program, which means they cannot obtain the most basic school supplies, such as pens and pencils.

My students are a bright, enthusiastic group who genuinely enjoy learning. It saddens me that they often go without their much-needed school supplies.

For this project, I am requesting classroom basics such as notebook paper, pens, sticky notes, and folders. The highlighters will help students annotate their reading assignments to show their understanding, while the folders will help students stay organized. Having these supplies in my classroom allows me to focus on instruction and planned activities instead of scrounging up supplies for the students. Students can participate in the day's lesson and complete projects without worrying about having the needed resources.

Without the basic tools used for studying, students cannot grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. My students see themselves as scholars, and there is no reason why they should be without the most basic school supplies.
