Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an inclusive group of both general education students and special education students who have a range of needs and learning styles. My students are eager second grade learners who love school!

Being in and out of school this past year has really taken a toll on them, and the thought of continuing attending school in a blended/hybrid model this year (and next!) is really impacting them socially and emotionally.

My Project

Believe it or not, I am starting to think about what school will look like in September. I cannot even fathom what our classroom models will be, but I know that I certainly cannot expect parents (who may have lost their jobs, been out of work, etc.) to purchase school supplies for my students.

School supplies can become extremely expensive, and COVID has created a major hardship among many families in my school community.

With this project, my goal is to prepare for next year by providing my students with basic school supplies like pencil cases, dry erase boards/markers, glue sticks, scissors, masks, ziplock bags, clipboards and prizes for our rewards box. If I am able to secure these items, I will be able to limit my supply list, which I know would lift a weight off of many parents shoulders.
