Basic Supplies For a First-Year Educator

Help me give my students a printer, soft chairs, a world map rug, and basic classroom supplies to streamline daily tasks to enable more focus on effective lesson planning and supporting student success.

My Project

As a first-year educator in Southeast Washington, DC, I teach at a Title I school serving a high-poverty community where resources are often scarce. Many of my students face significant challenges outside the classroom, but they arrive eager to learn. However, limited funding means that essential supplies must often be purchased by teachers like me.

To help my students succeed, I am requesting materials that will make our classroom engaging and effective.

An Epson EcoTank Printer and ink refills will allow me to create personalized learning resources while a World Map Rug will serve as a colorful and interactive gathering space for geography and group lessons. Kaplan Back Jack Chairs will provide students with comfortable seating for independent reading or collaborative activities.

Many of my students have significant difficulty comprehending foundational math concepts, and hands-on learning tools are critical. The Multiplying Fractions Pack, division flashcards, and multiplication flashcards will make abstract concepts more accessible. Learning toys like the dinosaur fidget keychains not only serve as prizes for academic achievements but also help build focus and fine motor skills.

Daily essentials like composition notebooks, dry-erase markers, and sticky flip chart paper will support our day-to-day learning while file folders, staples and a stapler, desk organizers, and storage bins will keep our classroom neat and functional. Additionally, colorful Sharpies and masking tape are vital for labeling materials, creating charts, and organizing lesson visuals.

Lastly, maintaining a clean and safe learning environment is essential. Supplies like disinfectant spray and cleaners will help ensure my students have a healthy space to thrive.
