Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is lacking some basic supplies, like post its, printer ink, and staplers for the students to use on a daily basis. They will use the staplers to keep their work organized. We are trying to get our students ready to succeed. As such, we are teaching them to annotate in their books. In order to annotate, they need post it notes to write on. They will share their ideas, written on the post its, with each other during Socratic Seminar sessions.

Students need to be set up for success, and these basic supplies are what we need, especially right now.

They will use these supplies to annotate their books, to mark their folders, and to ready themselves for college and for their future careers. Organization is a foundational key to success. Having these basic supplies, and using them daily to organize our work and ideas, is paramount. Let's show the students that we want them to succeed and build in them the skills, such as annotating, that will help them on that path.

Additionally, when students are working on laptops, we want them to print out their work so they can work in groups and take part in the peer-editing process. Printer ink is vital for letting them work together, share their ideas, and help each other grow as writers.
