We were lucky enough to have soapstone donated to our school this past summer but still have nothing to carve them with! This is one of many projects that we don't have all of the components needed to complete a project at our school. Please help us with our basic sculpture needs!
My students in my art classes are motivated, talented and hardworking.
They deserve the best supplies, but unfortunately don't have what is needed for many types of projects. The budgets are cut so badly! We have a lot of parts that can create projects and we need to fill in the gaps! Please support the students in my art classes so that they have the support to meet all expectations and beyond!
Trying my best to provide a well-rounded and rich art experience at my school is a challenge. With budget cuts and short periods, sometimes packed with a lot of students, it is hard to achieve truly great projects at times. Keeping the projects new and exciting is important because the students are engaged, focused and motivated. We have a whole shipment of soapstone, and the students want to carve it! We have nothing to do this with. Our goal is to have a "survey of art," where we can do drawing, painting, sculpture and digital projects. My students will be very grateful for the carving supplies we need.
My school is in the heart of Philadelphia.
They are smart and understand how the cuts to education are affecting them, their teachers and the schools. People like you, who care about making sure the students have the arts in their lives, are what keep many of them going. I know when I was in high school, art was my driving force! I have students like that and I don't want to let them down. They deserve the best!
