Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting permanent markers to complete art projects and drawings. After doing the fun art projects, I always have them write a super sentence or a paragraph about what they drew or made in class.

Pencils are essential to everything we do in class.

I have a pencil management system that teaches responsibility. At the beginning of each week, students are given six sharpened pencils. At the end of the week, they turn in their pencils in a pouch with a zipper. If the student turns in all six pencils they get a small prize. This practice cuts down on kids sharpening pencils to avoid/delay work and students do not have to listen to a noisy pencil sharpener.

The plastic crayon boxes will help keep crayons off the floor or from rolling around in their desk. The plastic crayon boxes offer another layer of protection and can be used if their cardboard box gets damaged or lost.

I am also requesting a heavy-duty pencil sharpener to sharpen six pencils a week for each student. The pencil sharpener will last for years to come since I am the only person that will be using the pencil sharpener. I am also requesting a pencil sharpener made specifically for colored pencils. This pencil sharpener automatically takes the pencil as the operator lets go. The pencil is pushed up automatically when the colored pencil is perfectly sharp.

The 96 bulldog clips will keep student work organized and together. I always re-use the bulldog clips, so they will be used on many assignments. Finally, I am requesting 200 clear push pins to display student writing and work on my bulletin boards in my classroom. Won't you help my first graders get off to a great start?
