My Students

I have a diverse group of fifth grade students. Many students live in low-socioeconomic neighborhoods and read significantly below grade level. Their ability levels range from students who struggle in school due to learning disabilities, to students performing above grade level and are gifted. One common characteristic among all students is their enthusiasm for learning.

I work diligently to plan exemplary literacy lessons and activities that challenge the students, but also allow them to use their unique talents and abilities to showcase or demonstrate their depth of knowledge.

I want to motivate and inspire my students to become lifelong learners.

My Project

When one teaches in a high poverty school, you quickly learn to keep basic supplies on hand. It is important to have supplies available for students who do not have the financial means to purchase them.

The paper, pencils, and pens are basic supplies that students tend to run out of on a regular basis.

The colored paper and ink will be used to create hands-on learning activities to review basic skills or for students to demonstrate their knowledge. The hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes are necessary items to keep the classroom clean and keep students healthy.
