Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Are my students special? Of course, they are!

My students are not special because of their special educational needs; my students are special because of the kindness in their hearts, their ability to move forward in the face of adversity, and their strong work ethic as they face academic challenges.

My students come from high-poverty areas. They all experience many different life challenges, so making their time in the classroom as peaceful and productive as possible is my primary goal.

My Project

It's been such a difficult year for our students. They have shown such resiliency, but I want them to experience Joy! The supplies that I am requesting will help to lift the burden from students and their families and start our new year off on a happy note. The marble notebooks will allow us to color code our work to help students organize their space. They enjoy using Dry Erase boards to "Show Me!" during math. They engage in friendly math where they compete to find answers, write it on their board and Show Me! They love it!! The erasable pens are actually magic pens! They turned my most reluctant writers into authors. They poured their heart onto the page and built their skills all while experiencing joy!

These items show students that someone believed enough in them to invest their money in them!

How powerful is that! All of these supplies allow me to create an environment where my students can excel. Many times students in Special Education are treated as "less than." Not in my classroom and not with your help!
