My Students

My second graders are voracious readers! They love to read both fiction and nonfiction books. Their favorite characters include Pete the Cat, Fly Guy, Piggie and Elephant, and Mercy Watson. They also love to read about insects, space, and plants. My students are hungry bookworms! They are eager to learn and read about the world around them. My class is made up of general education students, children with special needs, and English as new language students.

My students love to be at school and are like little sponges, absorbing everything around them.

Their parents work long hours and usually do not see their children. The children are usually cared for by their grandparents or a family friend. Most of them do not have someone who speaks English at home. Thus, it is difficult for students to acquire the English language.

Due to financial hardships, my students do not have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities during the school year or summer.

My Project

I would love to start the new school year with all the basic supplies my second graders will need to have a successful school year. However, due to school budgets cuts and financial hardships for families, it has become difficult for students to have all the materials they need.

Second graders will need basic classroom supplies such as a pencil sharpener, seat cushions, dry erase sleeves, tape, and water bottle holders for a busy school year!

My students will go through an enormous amount of pencils so an electronic sharpener is a must have in the classroom. The pencil pouches will be used by students to hold pencils, scissors, and glue sticks. The magnetic caddies will be used to store pens and markers for writing. The seat cushions will be used by students to sit 3 feet apart in the meeting area.

Since students will not be allowed to use the water fountain, the water bottle holders will store each child's water bottle at their table. The dry erase sleeves will be used by students during math time to record their strategies.

Your donation to this project will provide my students with the basic supplies they will need for the rest of the school year.
