My Project

How will the specific items you’re requesting make a difference in their learning?

The items I’m requesting—maxi pads, feminine wipes, Swiffer power mop, Glade automatic air freshener, band-aids, and disposable toothbrushes—will ensure that my students feel clean, comfortable, and confident while they are in the classroom.

Access to hygiene products directly impacts their ability to focus and participate without the distraction of personal discomfort. Additionally, maintaining a clean and pleasant classroom environment with supplies like the Swiffer mop and air freshener will help create a calm, welcoming atmosphere that fosters better learning.

What are your goals for this project regarding mental health?

My goal for this project is to support my students' mental health by ensuring their basic hygiene needs are met, which in turn will reduce stress and embarrassment. When students feel clean, cared for, and respected, they are more likely to feel positive about themselves and their learning environment. This sense of well-being can improve their emotional health, increase their self-esteem, and help them focus on their academic and social development. By addressing their physical comfort, I aim to foster a supportive atmosphere where they can thrive mentally as well as academically.

What makes your students special?

My students are resilient, resourceful, and eager to learn despite facing many challenges. They come from diverse backgrounds and have unique strengths, and they bring a spirit of determination to the classroom every day. They have a strong desire to succeed, and by addressing their personal and mental health needs, I can help ensure they are equipped to fully engage with their education. Their perseverance and passion for learning make them truly special.
