Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I have been fortunate enough to have motivated students who are ready to go back to normal or as close as we can get to it. They are currently 10th grade students who have faced academic struggles, especially during the pandemic due to remote learning. They are a mix of ELL, IEP, low level and average students. In order to help shrink the learning gap, they will be reading and writing about struggles that people with the same background face. I will use culture relevance to engage their interest and to maintain their momentum.

These students come everyday ready to learn and conduct business as usual.

Many of them come from under privilege homes, lack school supplies, face gang violence in their neighborhoods and now run exposure to Covid-19 due to lack of proper PPE and overcrowding of classrooms.

My Project

These materials are the basics we need in our ELA class. Students are running low on supplies, many have run out already. Notebooks, folders and pens are a basic need that many can't attain at the moment. We need theses supplies to keep us writing and organized. Please help us maintain the momentum we have going at the moment.

Without notebooks, students will lose the focus they have in order to succeed.

These materials will go to many that are in need, many that will lose their focus because that one need will set them off their path.
