Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in an I.C.T. classroom in the Bronx. In this classroom setting, both general education students and special education students learn together and from each other. Many of my students have learning disabilities, autism or speech and language impairments.

My students are faced with hardships everyday; yet, they come to school eager to learn.

Despite obstacles put in their way, my students strive to reach their potential. School is their safe haven where I strive to provide them with all the knowledge I can, with the resources that are available to me.

My Project

My classroom is fortunate enough to have TWO teachers! Our dilemma is that we do not have the resources for both of the teachers to effectively teach small groups. My students need a small group tabletop pocket chart, tabletop easel, markers, place value chart, chart paper, and protective sleeves.

Having these items would allow for BOTH teachers to simultaneously teach in the classroom.

These supplies will help my co-teacher and I teach many flexible small groups throughout the day to our special needs students as well as out general education students. The chart paper, pocket charts, and easel will allow for us to teach small groups while the other teacher is teaching the larger group with the classroom Easel and Smart Board. These basic supplies will allow us to meet the needs of ALL of our students.
