Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a first year teacher I am excited to meet my fourth graders. Having worked at the school for a year as a Student Teacher and as a Student Support Assistant, I know how eager the students are to learn. Many of the students come from low income homes, some of which do not speak English.

The school I work at is one of the most diverse schools in Pennsylvania but only 33% of the students are proficient in reading.

Because of this I want to make sure that when they enter my classroom they have access to all of the necessary resources to succeed.

I know that with help from DonorsChoose.org, we will be able to provide a classroom that helps our student thrive.

My Project

Having just finished student teaching, I have seen the value of basic classroom supplies and the obstacles student face when they don't have them. Many of the students in my school come from low income homes and simply don't have the means of purchasing all of the supplies on the school list. That is why I would like to make sure that my classroom is equipped with the necessary supplies for the students.

This project will provide necessary supplies such as paper, scissors, glue, pencils, and white boards for math work.

Having my classroom stocked will ensure that the students come to school ready to learn without the worry of being unprepared.
