Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are autistic, intellectually disabled, speech impaired, and/or other health impaired. Each one thrives on structure and routine. Their favorite time of day is "Sign-in & Calendar" when they use the ActivBoard, greet each other, perform calendar tasks, and "show off."

Our school is very supportive and inclusive.

My students enjoy participating in activities such as reading buddies, grade-level inclusion​ , and peer-to-peer mentoring. Wherever we go in school, other students call out "hello" to my students and call them by name. They are an important part of our school community.

My Project

For the 2021-22 school year, my students will need crayons, dry erase markers, glue sticks, paint, tape, and fun motivational stickers to start the new school year off right.

The dry erase markers are used daily during our calendar routine.

Students circle the month, write the date, and day of the week on their calendar mat. They also chart the weather, choose clothes for the day and tell how they feel.

All lessons are picture-supported so the activities contain quite a bit of color, cut and paste. I look forward to another year with my students.
