My Students

My students are from a Title I school where more than three‑quarters of students come from low‑income households. A quarter of the school population are English Language Learners.

My families come from diverse backgrounds and live in the heart of Flatbush, Brooklyn.

My students are special because they got grit and make the most out of any situation.

My Project

As students begin the new school year (after a year-plus of remote learning for many of them), they will need basic school supplies. Instead of burdening parents who may not be able to purchase basic school supplies, I would like to have these supplies available for every student in my class. I want us to start a school year without any families worrying or stressing about purchasing school supplies.

This project will provide every student with folders, pencil cases, tissues, paper towels and other students whose families have been unable to buy, lunch boxes and water bottles (as students cannot drink from the water fountain).

It will be easier for everyone to have all the basic supplies they need to start off the school school year without families needing to purchase them. We are not asking parents to buy supplies as many of them have been hard by the pandemic. Let's give these students the supplies they need to have a wonderful and equitable school year.
