My Students

My second graders are voracious readers! They love to read both fiction and nonfiction books. Their favorite characters include Pete the Cat, Fly Guy, Piggie and Elephant, and Mercy Watson. They also love to read about insects, space, and plants. My students are hungry bookworms! They are eager to learn and read about the world around them. My class is made up of general education students, children with special needs, and English as new language students.

My students love to be at school and are like little sponges, absorbing everything around them.

Their parents work long hours and usually do not see their children. The children are usually cared for by their grandparents or a family friend. Most of them do not have someone who speaks English at home. Thus, it is difficult for students to acquire the English language.

Due to financial hardships, my students do not have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities during the school year or summer.

My Project

My second graders love arts and crafts! We need some basic art supplies to express ourselves artistically. Students will use the skin tone crayons and markers to create self portraits for the classroom bulletin board. The foam shapes, gems, and pens will be used for collage, publishing, and art projects. My second graders love to paint with watercolors so students will now have a station for water coloring during choice time. The magnetic notebook page and caddies will be used to demonstrate, organize and store art materials. Students will also decorate and introduce themselves to their classmates with their All About Me posters!

In my classroom, art is a time for my second graders to relax, create, and express themselves.

My students look forward to art every week. We would love to have the opportunity to be creative with the art supplies requested.

Due to budget cuts, it has been challenging to get the supplies needed throughout the school year for my students. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
