Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students love sports and love competing, but many do not have the opportunity to participate in organized sports outside of our school teams. For most students, this will be their first experience being part of a baseball team. Because of this, our team has not been very competitive in the past.
Since many of our students have not had the experience of playing on a team, they need a lot of help learning the basic skills of hitting, catching, and throwing.
I want to give our students a chance to love and respect the game of baseball, develop life long teamwork skills, and a chance to learn sportsmanship.
My Project
Students will be using the training aids purchased to promote good batting and fielding habits. They will be able to rotate through stations at practice and ensure all the players are engaged in a meaningful instructional activity.
Since many have never picked up a baseball bat or glove, before, these tools will help them learn how to grip the bat, swing properly, be competitive at the plate, and learn to field the ball cleanly.
The teams we play against have a huge experience advantage against and this will help us start to close that gap. It will give our kids confidence in their own skills, teach them proper technique, and will help them coach each other.
