Extra-curricular activities for high-risk students are so important. Playing on a baseball team teaches the students many skills. They learn teamwork and discipline as well the skills to play the game. In addition they are afforded the opportunity to be a part of a team which keeps the students off the streets after school and gives them an activity they can really be proud of.

Last season was the third season for the Cobble Hill Baseball Team. The team went 10-6 and made the playoffs. I have never seen boys love playing baseball this much

PSAL allots the school $1,400. Of which $1,200 is taken by the boys and girls basketball teams. I am given $200 to spend on baseballs, bats, first aid supplies and uniforms (jersey's and hats). $200 buys hats for the team and that is it. We can't play a game without balls and bats, but at least the sun won't be in our eyes.

Many teams around Brooklyn have the members of the team pay for the equipment, but I don't think that's fair.
