This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Having these items for our Baseball program will really help develop the students into great baseball players, motivate them academically, and most importantly, it will be a gateway to strengthening their social-emotional state. The goal of this program is to keep students off the streets and motivate them through the sport of Baseball. Baseball is a very popular sport among inner-city students, and having these tools and resources will strengthen their confidence, engagement and provide a sense of pride in their school community. Our students are mainly low-income students from different countries around the world. We have one of the most diverse zip codes in the world. Enhancing the baseball program will unite and bring students from all different ethnicities and backgrounds together. Unfortunately, the school's budget does not have any financial backing for sports. For the few years, the students along with coach, had to pay out of pocket for equipment, uniforms and even transportation. Having these funds would bring incredible relief along with resources that will improve and strengthen our goals.
