My Students

My students are highly engaged when using online resources for reading. I teach at a STEM Academy. Although we have a NEW focus on Science and Engineering, Reading is still an intricate part of our curriculum. At times, I struggle to meet the needs of my 2nd graders in English Language Arts.

In my classroom, I have 25 students who are at varying levels in fluency, as well as comprehension.

Three of my students are English Language Learners, and often struggle with on grade-level reading material. I also have 30 different students for 50 minutes of the day for Zone of Proximal Learning time in English Language Arts.

My Project

My students need a subscription for Speakaboo so they will have internet resources for reading. My 2nd graders will benefit from motivating, interactive texts that are aligned to the Common Core State Standards. This resource will keep my students engaged in the curriculum, as well as help them to become independent learners. With this website and its resources, they take ownership over their learning.

I can use this program in a whole group or small group setting.

My students can access their subscriptions in school, as well as from home! I can't think of anything more exciting for my students than to access "classroom resources" at home, so as to engage their families, as well.
