Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Most of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes and eat free or reduced-price school lunch meals on a daily basis. I know music education is helping my students become better human beings and well-rounded citizens of our country. Music is also improving their test scores on state-mandated tests.
My students love the band very much; so much, that the band hall is their second home.
Not just their second home, but also their second family. They are always looking out for each other in any way possible. Regardless of any differences, my band students come together and make incredible music! They work hard, show true dedication, they collaborate and have been successful year after year. They know that it is an honor to be a musician in our band program, and they take it very seriously. So, even though we may not have the best equipment for learning music, they will always try their best. My band students inspire me each and every day with their tenacity, drive, and passion for music. I am truly lucky to be their band director.
My Project
As I end my current school year, I have already started planning and looking forward to when the next school year begins. The items in this project will help my students start the year off on the right foot. These items include paper for our music, pre-sharpened pencils, hand sanitizer, and facial tissues.
This project will ensure my students have the proper supplies to be successful from day one of next school year.
In my opinion, these items should be provided by the school district. But, many times, items like this get overlooked. In my school, pencils are like candy; they disappear so fast. Having this many pencils for our band students will ensure they have their materials every single day. Hand sanitizers and facial tissues in the school classroom is an absolute must. My students ask me for these two items almost every day. For the past few years, I have spent my own money to purchase these items. So, this year I am really counting on you to support and fully fund my project. It may seem like an odd request but step inside any classroom and you will find that these items are absolutely necessary for the success of students.
