This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a music teacher in a city public school. I work with students from Pre-k through Grade 5. All of my students are on the autism spectrum. In music class, we strive to meet the needs of each individual student.

My students thrive in music class and use music as a way to express themselves.

The students love coming to music class. They spend time singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Our students work towards putting on several performances for the community each year.

My Project

We have recently started a band with our students. They are working on learning the keyboard, drums, and other instruments. We even have students who sing. Our band started off as a few enthusiastic students, but has more recently grown. We have started performing at several shows throughout the school year.

In order to accommodate more students in our band, we need more music supplies.Our band is growing each day with more students who are eager to make music.

Our students love creating music as a group and performing for their teachers, friends, and families. The supplies for this project will help our students learn and grow as musicians.

I have several students working on learning rhythms on drums. The roll up midi drum kit is a great way for them to easily practice rhythms to play with our band. I am fortunate enough to have several keyboards, but do not have stands! Several students are interested in playing keyboard in our band, and the Rockjam keyboard stands will allow them to begin learning the keyboard. The fender cables will assist in connecting the keyboards to amplifiers for performances. A new Shure microphone will help our amazing singers shine in our band!
