My Students

In the heart of the Bronx, my students are making their footprint in society! I am a first year Life Skills teacher in a Special Ed High School located in the the northern part of The Boogie Down Bronx. We will be working the school cafe, taking inventory, creating classic beverage, mouth watering pastries, just to name a few of our day to day task.

As special ed students with moderate to severe disabilities, my students are more likely to get a job in the service industry.

It is my job as their instructor to prepare them with the necessary skills to not only get a job, but to prepare them to be able to succeed in just about any environment. We are a proud brunch who loves hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow us to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

We are focusing on our skills, learning some new ones, and having fun along our way.

My Project

We currently have no technology in our Cafe that we are rebuilding from the ground up. In rebuilding, we are exploring our different sources of fundraising so we can continue our weekly trips to the grocery store to maintain our inventory and experience real life scenarios. We would like to throw a big bake sale once a month and eventually, more frequently.

We will be building upon our service learning skills, recipe recreation, money maintenance, inventory upkeep, and so much more.

Our first bake sale is quickly approaching and still need a few key items to top off the best bake sale our school has yet to see! Please help us shoot for the stars and beyond! These baking items will allows us to not only recreate recipes, but enables us to present them is a delectable manner that will have the crowd coming back for more.
