Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of a diverse culture, in a PreK-4 school. Currently, our school represents more than 30 countries, with our refugee population growing from 18% to 34% in less than a year.

Some students have been in a school setting, while others are just experiencing a traditional American school setting for the very first time, with little to no access to technology.

While some students come from rural area, others are from an urban setting, making their prior experience with technology extremely limited.

My goal is to introduce them to many types of technology and show them all the many things that technology can do for us. With your help, students will be able to work at their own levels of progress and realize that the decisions they make today will impact their futures.

My Project

With today's educational standards, students are expected to use higher order thinking skills to solve specific tasks set before them. Using multiple modes of technology, students can perfect these skills used to "think outside of the box." This project will add a different type of technology in my lab: Robotics!

Robotics allows all students to work through the challenging steps of problem solving while enjoying the freedom of responding to interactive devices.

Students may follow directions from cards or make up their own codes for the robots to follow. There will be no limits for what the students can produce.

Having these types of resources in my classroom will allow me to extend their learning in another environment, while promoting the process of sharing ideas and setting goals to develop not only their brains, but the social and emotional pieces needed in the development of a child.
