My Students

I am the school counselor for a small school in Southern Indiana. Our school, like many other schools, has to worry about a budget. Playground equipment is usually left out of the budget when having to choose between it, staff, and other educational materials.

One of the highest priorities for our school system is integrating technology into the classrooms.

Technology is extremely important when teaching students to be ready for the world around them. The problem with technology is that sometimes it takes away from the students hands-on experiences. Our students need new balls for our playground and physical education class to incorporate exercise and hands-on play during the school day.

My Project

The new playground balls will be for all students to use during their designated recess time and their physical education classes. Not only do playground balls create hands-on experiences, but it also teaches kids cooperation when organizing games during recess.

Things you learned in the classroom were extremely important, but things you learned on the playground were also equally as important. Sometimes the playground lessons were even more important because they were life lessons like sharing, cooperating, being a good friend, and how being active and exercising makes you feel better.
