Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, talented, and driven young adults. They watch TV and movies and see the brilliant dancers that are in the entertainment industry. They want to be like those dancers. They are insistent on learning new skills and are always thirsty for more.

My students are in grades six through eight and are predominantly Hispanic.

I teach all ability levels and all exceptionalities, because everyone can learn to dance! Many of my students cannot afford to attend classes at a dance studio. Their parents do not have the time or the means to have them take part in such activities.

My class provides them the opportunity to get quality dance instruction at their school and at no cost to the families. For many of my students, this is the only opportunity they have to take dance classes and perform in dance recitals.

My Project

In our dance class we work to improve on a daily basis. We focus on flexibility, strengthening, technique, and choreography. I want a set of Bosu balls to use with my dancers to help prepare them better.

My students will be able to use the Bosu balls on a daily basis to help improve their technique.

They help students improve balance, strength, and can also help with jumps and leaps. There are many exercises that dancers can do with Bosu balls. From using them as a balance board to help with extensions to using them as a starting point for leaps. We will be able to use them daily in my class to help dancers of all levels. As an educator I look for ways to help my students grow, and I feel like these balls will push my students further as dancers.
