Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income / high poverty school district, my students are faced with many multiple challenges both in and out of the classroom. Somehow my students do not let the challenges stop them from learning. My students are highly unique individuals with a thirst for learning. I am teaching Science to approximately 90 students. These students love hands-on learning and thrive when given the opportunity to learn this way.

"Educating Students for Success in a Changing World" is our school motto.

My students are eager to learn about the world and that they don't have to be confined to where their zip code bounds them. They want to step out the box that they have been placed in and expand their experience.

My Project

Science is learned more efficiently through hands on learning. My students need three new triple beam balances to replace the nonfunctioning balances we have now. The balances will be used to teach the students how the find mass of objects, learn about physical properties and work through various lab situations.

I would love to encourage the students to be lifelong scientists.

Along with the three triple beam balances, the other materials will help the students learn about magnetism, light, and circuits. The students will use the lens to see how light acts as it pass through them. The lamp and lamp boards will be used to create parallel and series circuits.

The requested products align with the grade level TEKS that will allow the students to dive into each activity with a thirst for learning.
