My Students

I am a school-based Pre K physical therapist and work in Brooklyn with students who are 2 to 5 years old and receive physical therapy.

Pre-K is a crucial time in gross motor development.

The student's that will benefit from this are receiving PT because they're behind their peers in their motor skills, which impact their participation in school.

My Project

The trampoline and rocker boards will be shared between physical and occupational therapy and will serve multiple purposes in therapy.

These toys help to promote improvement in an underdeveloped vestibular system to improve strength, balance and coordination.

This will help the children navigate the playground and school building more safely, improve their ability to sit upright and concentrate in class, and help to regulate their emotions.

A trampoline can be used for sensory and emotional regulation, it can get the sillies out before sitting down to work that requires more concentration. It helps with skill development like jumping and coordination, for lower extremity strengthening. It increases endurance.

The rocker board is great for balance training, helping to develop a vestibular system, weight shifting, brain development, and posture.
