This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach elementary physical education to about 550 of the coolest kids. 97% of the students at my school are receiving free or reduced lunch and roughly 70% of the students speak English as a second language.

My goal is to expose my students to as many new experiences as possible through physical activity and sport.

My students love physical education and being active. Most of them don't get a chance to participate in sports outside of school. I want to use their physical education classes to teach them sportsmanship, teamwork and cooperative skills.

My Project

Most of the students at my elementary school do not have the opportunity and means to participate in team and individual sports outside of school. The more new experiences they can get in school, the better.

Badminton sets would allow my students to be exposed to a new sport they have never played before.

It will also allow the students to stay socially distant from each other and exercise without wearing a mask! Even after the global pandemic is over badminton is a great sport to teach striking and tracking, The students will also learn perseverance and sportsmanship through badminton.
