Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach and coach at a Title I school with a 92% Hispanic population where a majority of these students are economically challenged or come from troubled home lives. Despite these unfortunate circumstances, my students come ready to learn and improve their skills each and every day on and off the field. One of the main motivations for my students is their love for soccer and their passion for representing their school on the field. My student athletes would be greatly appreciative of any support received.

My Project

As our school's soccer season approaches, the effects of hurricane Harvey are still being felt here at our school. We have lost some of our equipment to flood damage and mold, and despite replacing most of our lost equipment we need assistance in supplying our student-athletes with all the clean equipment they need to be successful. Our biggest concern is supplying backpacks to our students so they can keep all of their team equipment organized and ready to go. These backpacks will to the freshmen and Junior Varsity teams and will be used over several seasons. Any assistance would be immensely appreciated by the coaches and students alike.
