My Students

I am blessed to teach an incredible group of kids each year! These kids continually amaze me, year to year, despite the learning challenges they face daily. They are smart, caring, and hardworking. When I tell you they are incredible, that is an understatement. The majority of my sweet students struggle to learn but refuse to give up. Our school is located in a low-income area, where all of the students qualify for free meals.

My students will now start another school year with distance learning.

This is not an easy pill to swallow considering their diverse learning obstacles. My hope is to still be able to build a family with my students even though they are not physically with me. They know that in our class, they will learn even though it may look less traditional than most would imagine. I consider my students' families, and we will continue to work diligently together to maintain this feeling in my classroom.

My Project

After 15 months of online learning, were finally headed back to the classroom! We have requested items like plants and decor to make our environment more welcoming. We have requested the book Wonder for each student to help foster compassion and caring within our class family. We are also in need of the basics like notebooks, scissors, pencils, paper, and cleaning supplies to make sure we are able to learn and succeed safely! I feel fortunate to return this year with a handful of the students I had last year so that we can continue our learning in the safety of our family-oriented classroom. My students all come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds so your donation of basic supplies like notebooks, pencils, highlighters, and snacks to feed their brains gives them all the tools they will need to succeed without placing the extra financial load on their families.
