My Students

My students are the most resilient group of 3rd-5th graders. Each day they are eager about coming to school, despite their individual disabilities that tend to impact their learning. Their diligence with school related tasks, both academically and socially, have me in awe each day that we interact.

We're going to run out of a few classroom basics soon, but hopefully I can prevent this from happening.

When trying to bridge learning from school to home, many resources that would have lasted are beginning to run out. This is a good thing because students and families are engaging and utilizing resources away from school for instruction. At the same time, these same resources mirror what we use daily, so it's important that we have them on hand.

For my students, I want to provide the best for them during the time we are together. I am an advocate for students with disabilities because I believe that all children can succeed, despite learning difficulties. My students are no different. To see the smiles on their faces when they have made a connection is a great moment to experience.

My Project

Although it's only been a few short months since the school year started, we have already found ourselves short on day to day needs. We use Astrobrights paper daily for almost anything copy related. I especially like the color of the paper when used for student worksheets and projects. It's also a great way for colleagues to recognize student achievement when walking in the hallway!

Pencils are always going to be needed in the classroom, which is why it's the most important resource in this project!

Between needing pencils for home use and using them when transitioning classes, it's the one thing that there is not enough of but is always needed. A close runner up are the dry erase markers. My students are getting older and are becoming more self-sufficient in the classroom. They are now able to take on the task of using personal dry erase boards to assist with their instruction. We have the boards, now the markers are needed to make a perfect match.

The table easel is a fantastic resource for small group instruction in any content! Instead of referring students to the main board during small groups, they now have an up close and personal resource to support instruction. This is especially helpful for students with visual deficits. An added bonus is that I won't have to worry about how much space it will take up in my classroom because of its size! We're trying something new in the classroom with vocabulary journals. Using the mini spiral notebooks, students will be able to create a vocabulary word of the day and demonstrate their understanding of the word. This makes for the perfect on-the-go dictionary! We could really use your help with bringing our project to life!
